Andrea English UKCP Reg., PGCert., DipPsych, DipCouns, BSc Hons
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, and EMDR therapist. I have been studying and training in psychology, counselling, and psychotherapy over the past 20 years. I have been in practice since 2016, and currently work as a counsellor and mental health assessor & advisor for a major Occupational Health / EAP provider and in private practice.
I have a special interest in working with clients to find a greater sense of self, connection and agency in a complex world, and with adult survivors of first and second generation cult experiences and the impact of coercive control in one to one relationships, small groups, or larger organisations.
My core training is in integrative psychotherapy. I offer trauma informed practice based in psychodynamic, attachment and relational approaches. Mindfulness, compassion focused and sensorimotor theories also inform my work. I am also trained in EMDR.
I will work collaboratively with you to help you reflect on and make sense of your experiences and their impact in the present. I work to encourage awareness, understanding and acceptance and to cultivate choice.
