I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, and EMDR therapist. With a background in travel, tourism, hospitality and sailing, I am passionate about understanding people and relationships. I returned to undergraduate study in 2003 choosing Psychology as my focus and continued on to train at post graduate level in psychology, counselling, and psychotherapy from there. Practicing as a qualified volunteer counsellor since 2016, I began working in private practice in 2018 and have 5 years experience as a counsellor and helpline advisor for Optima Health.
I have a special interest in working with clients to find a greater sense of self, connection and agency in a complex world, and with adult survivors of first and second generation cult experiences and the impact of coercive control in one to one relationships, small groups, or larger organisations.
My core training is in integrative psychotherapy. I offer trauma informed practice based in psychodynamic, attachment and relational approaches. Mindfulness, compassion focused and sensorimotor theories also inform my work. I am also trained in EMDR.
I will work collaboratively with you to help you reflect on and make sense of your experiences and their impact in the present. I work to encourage awareness, understanding and acceptance and to cultivate choice.
